we've got you
Hey! I'm Janelle, a Kiwi living the dream in charming Provence, after bidding farewell to the vibrant streets of Paris. Back in July 2017, my husband and I embarked on an adventure, leaving behind our life in New Zealand to embrace the wonders of the City of Love. As a trained foster care social worker, I knew I had to put my career on hold, but little did I know that an exciting new path awaited me.
Paris, oh Paris! It's impossible to resist the allure of this breathtaking city. Every corner is filled with beauty, and it was here that my love for photography truly blossomed. What was once a simple hobby quickly transformed into a passion I couldn't ignore. In April 2020, I founded My Paris Portraits, and the journey has been nothing short of magical. Through my lens, I have had the incredible privilege of helping others fall in love with this remarkable city, just as I did.
After the birth of my twins in July 2022, my husband and I started fantasizing about having more space and embracing a slower pace of life for our growing family. In 2023, we made the exciting decision to move towards the lavender fields, sun, and rosé found in Provence. And just like that, My Paris Portraits is expanding once again to capture the enchanting beauty of Provence. Get ready, because My Provence Portraits will be launching in September 2023!
In 2013 I moved to Paris to play professional volleyball. My plan was to come for one season, eat every pastry that France had to offer, and then head home to the US and get a job in accounting. Well…that plan didn’t entirely work out! I was successful in eating all the pastries, but I also met my husband that year and somehow one season of volleyball turned into 9 years in Paris!
I’ve been photographing as a hobby since I was in university but after retiring from volleyball I finally had the time to pursue it as more than a hobby! Living here has offered me the incredible opportunity to photograph friends and families who are here to enjoy the beautiful city of lights ✨
Half Aussie, half Malaysian, living the dream in Paris after coming for one year just to explore and travel… 7 years later, I’m still here! Formerly a nursery school teacher, I am just loving meeting new people and capturing beautiful moments on my camera out and about in the most beautiful city in the world. I have a freakishly good memory (to the point that it annoys my friends), and I’m an absolute fiend for useless trivia. When I’m not taking photos and exploring the city, you can find me eating delicious food somewhere with friends #summerbody2023
From a Filipino background, I was born and raised in Paris. I met my husband while I was living abroad for a few years and we decided to move back to Paris together. Coming back made me rediscover the city I grew up in and gain a new appreciation for all the cultural richness Paris has to offer! I like the arts, good coffee and books, but I also love to hike and enjoy nature (especially the ocean).
Growing up, I also followed along in my father’s passion for photography. This hobby has already given me the honor of capturing some of my friends' big life events and I love the way it helps us to relive beautiful memories
I moved to Paris 7 years ago from New Zealand to work in theatre production and performance.
I'm a lover of cycling anywhere and everywhere in Paris, eating out at all the best new spots in my neighbourhood (one of my absolute favorites is martin boire et manger) and all things theatre!
Social media and community management is something that I came to really enjoy as it has a lot of parallels to theatre: it’s all about story telling and connecting to a community of people! I've been behind the emails and running the MPP socials since August 2022.
